The Southern Wilderlands

The Southern Wilderlands are comprised of the equatorial wilderlands along the eastern shore of the Winedark Sea, the wilderlands of the southern tip of the Pazidan Peninsula, the coastal wilderlands of the Sea of Five Winds south of the Pazidan Peninsula and the coastal wilderlands along the southwestern shore of the Sea of Five Winds.

The Southern Wilderlands are detailed in the Wilderlands of the Magic Realm which includes campaign maps and associated information for the equatorial Ebony Coast on the mainland west of the Winedark Sea, the Isles of the Blest on the southern tip of the Pazidan Peninsula, the Ghinor region on the mainland south of the Sea of Five Winds and the Ament Tundra in the interior along the southwestern coast of the Sea of Five Winds.

The Ebony Coast (Campaign Map 13) comprises the equatorial mainland east of the Winedark Sea and is bordered by the region of the Barbarian Altanis to the west, the Tarantis region to the north, the Isles of the Dawn to the south and by the ancient and mysterious Kingdom of Karak to the east.

The Ebony Coast is sparsely populated.  The largest settlement in the region is the timber-harvesting village of Wayfair, with a population of 499, on Blackwell Isle in the Winedark Sea.  The largest non-human settlement is the Dwarven gem-crafting village of Petrashell, with a population of 475, on the western coast of the Ebony Peninsula.

There have been no dragon sightings on the Ebony Coast for generations.  Many believe this is the result of the Kingdom of Karak's tradition of dragon hunting.

At the southern tip of the Pazidan Peninsula, the Isles of the Blest (Campaign Map 12) are bordered on the north by the region of the Barbarian Altanis, on the west by the Lenap region, on the south by the Ghinor region and by the Isles of the Dawn to the east.  The region is sparsely populated and much of the peninsula is ranged by nomadic Altanis.

The largest settlement in the Isles of the Blest, with a population of 488, is the Dwarven fishing village of Capricia, on the peninsula downstream from the Lake of Visions.  The largest Human settlement is the tar-mining village of Flaking, with a population of 484, on the southwestern coast of the peninsula.

A dragon is rumoured to lair in one of the islands to the west of the tip of the Padizan Peninsula in the Sea of Five Winds.  There is a lair of dragons rumoured to be located in northern Cruaich Mountains on the Isle of the Blest.

The largest settlement in the Ghinor region, with a population of 518, is the Elven market village of Sunev, on Mantero Isle off the southern tip of the Padizan Peninsula.  The largest Human settlement is the market village of Yolin, with a population of 490, on nearby Pantagent Isle.
