Siddhārtha District
Worlds (Kuru | Magadha | Raja) | Map | Commerce
Named for the generation ship — Siddhārtha Gautama — which brought the original colonists to Magadha (at hex-prism 1324.21), Siddhārtha District contains 18 worlds. Siddhārtha is one of the core districts surrounding Earth which is just two parsecs core-trailward of hex-prism 1721.19. Partly due to the dispersion between many of its worlds, Siddhārtha remains a frontier region. The Commonwealth of Earth enjoys significant influence in Siddhārtha, with commercial operations on many worlds, as well as naval bases at Malla, Vindhya, Altai and Raja. The Ouroran Community also has commercial operations on many worlds and maintains a naval base at Gandhara
Six worlds in the district are members of the Commonwealth. One world is a member of the Ouroran Community and another is a member of the Federation of Nyanza All remaining worlds are nominally independent.
The Commonwealth world Magadha is the most important world in the district. The independent resources processing world Raja is also important, with key trade links to neighbouring Fomalhaut District. The independent agricultural world Kuru is difficult to reach from most other worlds in Siddhārtha but has important trade ties to neighbouring Kiangsi District. (The Republic of Kiangsi maintains a naval base on Kuru.) Total district population is 153 million with over 90% on just the three worlds Kuru, Magadha and Raja. Total military forces in the district approach one million with two-fifths at Magadha.

District Worlds table notes:
[α] Hex-prism location, based upon three-dimensional Cartesian coordinate distances — in parsecs — from Earth / Sirius (at location 1720.19).
[β] World Data Codes for gravitational acceleration (GA), atmosphere breathability (AB), biosphere development (BD), population magnitude (PM), social authority (SA) and technological achievement (TA).
[γ] In most cases, spectral type, luminosity class, and common name (or star catalogue designation) of all stars in system as listed in the 2300 AD "Near Star List." Links to additional stellar information provided by the Strasbourg Astronomical Data Center SIMBAD database, the Astronomisches Rechen-Institut ARICNS database and Roger Wilcox's Internet Stellar Database — which also provides a list of stars in the database within a given number of lightyears of a star. (For stars beyond 50 light-years — approximately fifteen parsecs — from Earth / Sirius, the stellar classication data has been developed specifically for the Earth Colonies campaign and does not align with actual astronomical data.)
[δ] Commercial Operations codes: Ag = agricultural production (BD 3+, PM 4+), Ap = agricultural production and processing (BD 3+, PM 7+, TA 9+), Cs = communication services (PM 7+, TA 9+), Fs = financial services (PM 7+, TA 9+), Ma = manufacturing (PM 7+, TA 9+), Re = resource extraction (BD 2-, PM 4+), Rp = resource extraction and processing (BD 2-, PM 7+, TA 9+), Tr = transportation services (PM 7+, TA 9+).
[ε] Military forces codes for Navy base (N), Navy depot (D), Scout base (S) or Scout way station (W). (Allegiance codes in parentheses indicate a military base in an independent system.) Total number (K = x 1000, M = x 1,000,000) of local military forces (planetary and space).
[ζ] Allegiance codes: Ab = Abrahamic Synod, Ae = Aeroi Worlds, Az = Empire of Aztlán, Co = Commonwealth of Earth, He = Realm of Hejaz, In = Independent, Ki = Republic of Kiangsi, Me = Meren Worlds, Ny = Federation of Nyanza, Ou = Ouroran Community, Qu = Quebecer Republic, Ra = Rajasthani Confederacy, Sh = Empire of Shinnihon.
[η] Corresponds to system "CD-20 [4125]" at position "0732-07" in StarForce. (In StarForce, the "CD-20 [4125]" system has one or more planets which did not "require 'terraforming' before colonization.")
[θ] Corresponds to system "Wolf 562" at position "1032-02" in StarForce.
[ι] Corresponds to system "CD-40 [9712]" at position "1132-13" in StarForce.

Magadha / Siddhārtha (1324.21)
The Commonwealth world Magadha is one of the most populous and the most technologically advanced worlds in Siddhārtha District. Magadha dominates much of the trade in the district and fields a substantial military force that includes a Commonwealth naval base.

Magadha is located in the upward central portion of Siddhārtha, three parsecs downward from Jagannath District.
Magadha has standard surface gravity (1.0G) and a correspondingly standard atmosphere that can be breathed without countermeasures. Its native biosphere has produced primitive fauna. (Many advance fauna species have been introduced from off-world.) Magadha's population is in the tens of millions and its social authority is a democratic oligarchy. Magadha has interstellar stage technological achievement, the most sophisticated in Siddhārtha.
Commercial activities at Magadha include agricultural production and processing, communications and financial services, manufacturing, and interstellar shipping.
The Magadha system's primary star, Mahābodhi, is an orange dwarf (K5V) and its companion, Nālandā, is a red dwarf (M2V).
