The Technic Civilization Collections
"Uniting [the Dominic Flandry and Nicholas van Rijn] stories gave Anderson the nucleus of a future history 5000 years long which now numbers more than 40 separate items including 11 full-length novels. It is the most remarkable achievement of its kind in [science-fiction]."

Several Technic Civilization works were first collected in the period 1964-66, with six Polesotechic League tales in two collections —Trader to the Stars (Van Rijn) and The Trouble Twisters (Falkayn) — published by Doubleday and seven Dominic Flandry tales in two collections — Agent of the Terran Empire and Flandry of Terra — published by Chilton. All four collections were subsequently reissued several times by multiple publishers through the mid-1980s.
A fifth collection of twelve additional Technic Civilization tales — The Earth Book of Stormgate — was published by Berkley in 1978 and a sixth collection of five more Technic Civilization tales — The Long Night — was published by Tor in 1983.
The Earth Book of Stormgate included the Van Rijn novel The Man Who Counts but no other Technic Civilization novels — Satan's World (Van Rijn and Falkayn), Mirkheim (Van Rijn and Falkayn), People of the Wind, Ensign Flandry, A Circus of Hells (Flandry), The Rebel Worlds (Flandry), The Day of Their Return, Hunters of the Sky Cave (Flandry), A Knight of Ghosts and Shadows (Flandry), A Stone in Heaven (Flandry), The Game of Empire (Flandry) or The Night Face — appeared in any of these collections.
