Al-Borak Undertaking: Islamic Kaliphate's effort to launch a spaceship to the Moon and to build a Lunar military base. [Mc]

Associated Enterprises: former patron of the Macleod Research Team while working on sea-water chemical extraction plant in Puerto Rico; headed by Blake Hartley who went on to be elected President of the United States.  Now headed by President Hartley's son, Allan, to whom Macleod made a private appeal in his effort to deal internally with the espionage threat. [Mc]  (It is these elements which seem to connect "The Mercenaries" to presumably the same Hartleys of "Time and Time Again.")

Atomic Era: dating system, abbreviated "A.E.," which began when "the first uranium-pile had gone into operation."  Hradzka fled the Hundredth Century, A.E., intending to go to the mid-Fifty-Second Century, A.E., but instead ended up in the First Century, A.E. [FT]  (Similar to the Atomic Era dating system used in Piper's Terro-human Future History yarns.)
